Introduction
GlobalFoundries seeks a Working Student in Dresden to support tapeout systems and operations in semiconductor manufacturing. The role involves design checks, mask data prep, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure timely, high-quality output. Strong engineering fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and scripting ability are essential.
Your Job
Engage in the design of future Tapeout Systems which generate photo mask data from physical designs
Engage in Daily Tapeout Operations activities such as DRC, Dataprep, and work hand-off across geographic locations
Work closely with the Fabs, OPC Teams, Tapeout Logistics & Integration Team, Tapeout Integration to facilitate clean tapeouts to RTM
Collaborate with teams within the Global Tapeout Operations Organization to develop and Implement work improvement methods to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve cycle times
Learn and explore new technologies and work with urgency on both Tactical and Strategic Problems
Document Best Practices and Training Material to ensure the smooth completion of the TOC mission
Ensure that processes are well documented, that failure modes are assessed and have mitigation and detection in place
Required Qualifications
You are currently enrolled at a german university, studying electrical engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Chemistry
First experiences in submicron IC design and manufacturing, EDA tools (Calibre DRC/LVS, Cadence Virtuoso), and scripting languages (TCL, Python, Perl Shell).
Linux user, be able to operate on a UNIX environment
Fluent in spoken and written English (at least C1)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Period
The position is available 01.01.2026 for a duration of at least 12 months
a maximum of 20 hours/week during the semester and a maximum of 40 hours/week during semester holidays
