Introduction

The Integration Engineering PLCM team orchestrates the introduction of new designs into the Fab for first-time (prototype) wafer fabrication. This is split into functions to organize the tape-out process and mask making, fab preparation (making sure the wafers can run smoothly), the silicon prototype run and shipment of the wafers to customers. All positions constantly require a high level of interaction with a wide variety of other departments.

Your Job

The MPW Material Flow Manager is responsible for the shipment of MPW prototype deliveries to the customers that ordered them, and the interaction with the customer’s representatives inside of GlobalFoundries regarding the shipment’s status, schedule, changes and other options. As a main customer contact point, he/she is an important enabler of a successful customer relationship. Up to 40 customers on a single MPW, a variety of options available on any shipment, and several MPWs in flight at any time result in a high complexity as well as diversity of the task.

To accomplish this job’s function, the applicant:

  • takes responsibility for shipments of ordered material to the right location at the right time

  • engages in the wafer start planning to assert there will be enough wafers to ship at the end

  • keeps an eye on prototype lot progress to ensure the schedule will be kept; if delays are anticipated, he/she explores appropriate counter measures

  • communicates with internal customer representatives on status, changes, shipment details

  • negotiates additional customer demand (lot re-start, additional material, customer driven changes)

  • identifies problems and initiates actions to address them effectively

  • understands and balances customer priorities and demands vs. Globalfoundries’ commercial interests

  • communicates effectively between wafer prototype team, Line Control, Assembly Line team, CSRs, engineering and logistics teams

  • organizes and improves the shipment procedures in his/her area of work

  • identifies pitfalls and improvement potential and addresses them

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering (strongly preferred)

  • Additional background in economics (favored)

  • First experience in technology integration and/or silicon manufacturing

  • Highly developed skills in work organization and schedule awareness

  • Enthusiasm for communication in both English and German

  • Ability to respond quickly to numerous requests
